Coola Post Primary continued it’s good reputation at the Scifest on the 6th May 2010 by winning the intermadiate physical science category at the highly acclaimed competition. The winning team of Darren Conboy, Barry Killoran and David Keegan investigated how winglets, the vertical fins at the tips of some wings of aeroplanes, make aerodynamic differences to the aeroplane, with regards to fuel economy and wind resistance. The project was aptly titled “Winglets in Wind Tunnels”, and with some guidance from their teacher, Ms. Davey, the team suceeded with flying colours.

The school also won a third prize in the Junior Life Science Category via Meegan Turner and Lorraine O’Reilly. This capped off an overall productive day for Coola Post Primary School.
